Hello!
It seems like the last post was in March of 2016. I am not sure if I will continue writing new blog posts -- these days, I am not really into writing casually, because that seems a chore, something I'd rather not do. It isn't because I am writing a lot these days -- it is out of sheer laziness, and because I now write only when I have to.
I write when it has a purpose, let's say.
Since the last post, I have walked from Simikot in Humla to the lake Mansarovar and around the Mount Kailash. I have walked at an altitude of 5,600 meters above sea level. I would like to cross the 6,000 meters mark sometime soon. That would be nice.
Went on a short jaunt to Panchase Danda, to the south-west of Pokhara. Photo:
Went on a 20-day trip to NYC, wrote some 16 thousand words while there. The stories will be part of a book being published by Varja Books in Kathmandu (on behalf of the India China Institute at the New School, and ICIMOD here in Nepal), edited by Kamla Kapur. Perhaps another book of folktales will also come out of this project. The stories were collected by research associates for the ICI, working in Humla of Nepal, Uttarakhand of India and Ngari Prefecture of Tibet. An intriguing exercise, for sure.
Got a story (Boy from Banauti, from TVA) and three translations published in House of Snow, an anthology of writing from and on Nepal. Finishing IB Rai's stories in translation, so, mayhaps, a few books in various forms in the first half of 2017, and then on with the novel!
Happy New Year! (Lindsay!) :)
